Millington is the home of the NAS, now known as NAVSUPPACT Mid-South. The Navy base has grown at a fast pace and is now the home of the Bureau of Naval Personnel, which relocated from Washington, DC. With the influx of many Navy personnel, it has added to the growth and development of the entire area, but has also helped Millington in its growth as well.

The military and the private sector have meshed together and formed a working relationship that has enabled the community to enjoy the best of both worlds. Millington is also known as "Flag City" Tennessee. A distinction granted by the state legislature.

Millington is the recipient of the Governor's Three Star Award for community quality. The award recognizes and promotes individual contribution, community initiative and leadership directed toward enhancing the quality of life and economic conditions in Millington and in Tennessee.
